meet jack

I’m Jack Hansell, I am running for Park County Commissioner, District 2. I’ve been a member of the Bailey community and resident of Park County since 2001. My wife Allison and I moved to Bailey to raise our children. We have established strong roots to this area and the people. The Hansell family has not just lived in Park County, we have been active contributing residents. I brought extensive experience as a brewer to the county and started a successful brewery business in Bailey. During the years we owned Mad Jack’s Brewery, I was the Platte Canyon Chamber of Commerce President, Treasurer and Board Member at large. I also served as a Substitute Teacher in all three schools (Elementary, Middle and High School). My career experiences have given me a strong set of qualifications for the position as commissioner. My career professional experience includes compliance management, quality control and assurance, international and domestic product manufacturing and distribution, profit and loss management, budgets, planning and resource management, as well as an understanding of the needs of Park County.

I’ve been involved in many community service events over the years. I’ve hosted fundraisers for neighboring businesses in need and have supported multiple non profit organizations that have outreach in Park County. My focus as commissioner of Park County District 2 is to work towards giving our law enforcement staff the support and monetary resources to keep operations functioning 24/7, finding solutions for affordable housing for residents, guaranteeing equal rights for everyone in Park County, establishing a health services district for Platte Canyon and improving infrastructure, in particular, road maintenance. Most importantly, is looking for solutions to these needs while keeping county taxes in check. I am Jack Hansell, and I need your support to make positive changes as your commissioner. I strive for thoughtful solutions, through collaboration and look forward to making improvements for Park County and all the residents who reside therein.

priorities for
all park county

collaboration & Relationships

Prioritize collaborative leadership and relationship management.

I will do this by:

  • Routinely meeting with and listening to our residents and employees of our county to understand their needs and priorities.
  • Working with my fellow commissioners in a professional manner to find consensus for solutions to issues.
  • Fostering and developing relationships with State and Federal officials to assist Park County to obtain the necessary attention we need.
  • Striving to keep the priorities of the county above my personal needs.

Fully Funded Sheriff’s Department

Ensure full funding for the Sheriff’s Department to provide 24/7 coverage countywide.

I will do this by

  • Prioritizing Law Enforcement and Safety.
  • Supporting our Sheriff’s Department.
  • Seeking creative solutions to enable our Sheriff’s department to be fully funded to bring back and maintain 24/7 staffing.

health care district

Establish a dedicated health care system for the Platte Canyon Area

I will do this by:

  • Prioritizing the need for a Health Services District, in the most populated area of our county, which is also a priority for the majority of our citizens. This is a proposal which has been presented to our current Board of County Commissioners. It is ultimately up to the citizens of Park County to decide if they want a Health Services District. FairPlay established a Health Services District in 2017. Platte Canyon needs one as well.
  • Unless this measure has already been placed on the November 2024 ballot, I will advocate that the Board of County Commissioners allow the Courts to decide to put the measure on the next election ballot.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Pursue funding and grants at the state and federal levels to enhance infrastructure, health services, and affordable housing, as well as to support workforce development and opportunities for residents.

I will do this by:

  • Working with our county managers and fellow commissioners to apply for grant funding from the State and Federal Government.
  • As a current Colorado State employee working for the Workforce Development Council, I have become aware of numerous funding opportunities for our county that I hope to leverage.
